Job Description:

Reporting to the Head of Group Tax, the

Global Indirect Tax Manager (m/f/d)

Permanent, located in Wiesbaden (Germany)

Will be accountable for Indirect Tax in EMEA, LATAM and APAC and support the business on indirect tax matters related to customs duties, import taxes, sales taxes, excise, tariffs, environmental and other taxes.


Responsibility for the efficient and effective management of compliance obligations in connection with VAT and Intrastat reporting in Europe and Switzerland.

  • Global Process Owners (PTP, OTC, RTR etc)

Duties and Responsibilities:

Indirect Tax (around 60 VAT registrations across 12 countries in Europe, 8 countries in Asia Pacific and 8 countries in the Americas):

  • Monitor and implement OECD, EU and local country legislative changes with regards to indirect tax compliance, ensure ERP systems are updated accordingly, best practices are enabled, and in particular implementing the digitalization of indirect taxes across the globe with a “global solutions” view
  • Supervise and coordinate with local finance to ensure VAT compliance in Europe & CH for the correct and timely processing of all compliance obligations for VAT and Intrastat
  • Ensure EMEA is ready for VAT changes e.g. Quick Fixes including application of new intra-Community supply evidence rules
  • Provide proactive, clear and concise advice to business partners in relation to creating efficient processes and structures, correct application of VAT and other indirect tax rules
  • Support and assistance during VAT and other indirect tax audits
  • Training and development of new and existing staff regarding indirect tax topics
  • Guidance in setting and monitoring of VAT controls
  • Lead the digital transformation and automation of EMEA, APAC and Americas Indirect Tax Function by implementing Tax ERP solution or Tax Engines
  • Ensure BPO practices are first in class with regards to processing of invoices to meet business requirements and automating processing of invoices with Artificial Intelligence
  • Explore opportunities for efficiencies in VAT compliance across the globe (outsourcing / digitalization)

Profile:

  • Excellent international VAT knowledge
  • Experience in dealing with International Trade issues in relation to the Textile industry
  • General knowledge of European Tax Environment
  • Computer proficiency: Experience in Excel essential, Access would be a plus
  • Knowledge of tax compliance and reporting software solutions (e.g: Vertex)
  • Experience with implementing Indirect Tax solutions within SAP environment
  • Good understanding of IT systems and ability to work with IT analysts and Project Managers
  • Analytical mind and ability to logically interpret and challenge financial information
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing environments
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in a similar role or in a Big 4 tax consultancy firm in indirect taxes at a global or regional level
  • Fluent in English with additional language skills desirable
  • Bachelor degree or master. Qualification in Legal/ Finance/ Tax
  • Availability for traveling about 15% of work-time
