Archroma Packaging Technologies to Unveil Ultra High Solids PSA at LOUPE Americas 2026

27/08/2026

The company is set to exhibit at the Chicago event, for the first time, in September 2026

Archroma Packaging Technologies (PT) will introduce a new Ultra High Solids pressure-sensitive adhesive, Cartacol® APS75 Ultra, to the North American market at LOUPE Americas, taking place in Chicago (15-17 September 2026). The patent-pending technology is designed to help converters cut energy use and reduce their carbon footprint without compromising adhesive performance.

Conventional water-based PSAs are limited to a solids content of approximately 65-70%. Typically, beyond that threshold, the emulsion becomes too viscous to run efficiently on industrial coating lines. Archroma Packaging Technologies’ new platform significantly increases the solid content yet is still fully processable at industrial scale. The high solid content reduces the amount of water that needs to be evaporated during the drying process and therefore supports energy savings.

The product is built for the general permanent paper label segment – which represents roughly 90 percent of the market – and is formulated to match the performance of standard PSAs already on the market.

Large-scale label and packaging manufacturers operate coating lines that can stretch over 100 meters, with multiple drying units – so for them, less water to evaporate means lower electricity consumption, reduced processing costs and a smaller carbon footprint.

While the Ultra High Solids PSA’s patent application is still pending, Archroma Packaging Technologies looks forward to attending LOUPE Americas and inviting converters to trial the solution ahead of its commercial launch.

Archroma Packaging Technologies will also showcase its broader range of adhesives at the show, including solutions for tape and label applications, and converting and laminating adhesives for packaging.

Dinakar Gnanamgari, VP, Innovation & Portfolio Expansion at Archroma Packaging Technologies, comments: “With Cartacol® APS75 Ultra, our new Ultra High Solids PSA solution, which we’ve created by reformulating our base polymer to achieve high solid content suitable for machine coating, we’re giving converters a way to directly reduce their energy consumption and emissions. We’re truly excited to introduce this innovation to the North America market at LOUPE Americas, as we exhibit at the event for the first time.

“We’ll also be showcasing our wide range of innovative solutions, including barriers, adhesives, colorants and binders, which align perfectly with the event's focus on ‘exploring hidden depths’. This event allows us to connect with forward-thinking attendees who share our commitment to making positive changes in the packaging industry.

“We look forward to engaging with customers and industry leaders to further discuss our sustainable packaging solutions.”
