In September 2015, all 193 Member States of the United Nations adopted “Agenda 2030”, a comprehensive plan centered on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These goals aim to eradicate poverty, enhance health and education, diminish inequality, stimulate economic growth, combat climate change and protect our ecosystem.

Together with the principles of The Archroma way to a Sustainable World: Safe, efficient, enhanced. It’s our nature, the SDGs serve as a compass that guide us in setting the right aspirations and steer us towards forging innovative products, refining operational practices, and nurturing sustainable value creation throughout our value chain.

On SDGs Flag Day, we cast a spotlight on the strides we've taken by accentuating four pivotal SDGs that underpin our corporate mission:

  • GOOD HEALTH AND WELLBEING (SDG 3)

Our commitment to SDG 3 is conspicuously embedded in our devotion to occupational safety.

Safety is paramount at every juncture of our intricate manufacturing process, ensuring the welfare of our workforce, local communities, and the environment. Guided by our " 12 Life Saving Rules”, we cultivate a sense of shared responsibility among all Archroma employees and partners.

Our safety approach is comprehensive, encompassing risk assessments, hazard management, and incident prevention. By meticulously scrutinizing potential hazards related to chemicals, machinery, and processes, we safeguard the lives of our workforce, local communities, assets, and the environment.

To bolster safety, we have Safety & Environment Officers (SEOs) at each site who report to our global safety, health, and environment manager. Initiatives like safety observation programs, tailor-made training, and routine audits are integral to our safety culture.

We also vigilantly monitor health concerns, on a local level, as with COVID-19 during the pandemic, empowering our local emergency teams to respond effectively while keeping our global operations and global Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) teams informed.

While ensuring the health and wellbeing of our employees, we also strongly prioritize consumer product safety by rigorously assessing potential chemical risks, adhering to regulations, and adapting to evolving market needs.
We are devoted to maintaining continuous transparency for our customers and stakeholders, facilitated by tools like The SafeEdge – Archroma's online platform for access to regulatory and compliance certificates, along with a suite of related services. Our approach guarantees that the products we craft do not compromise user health and safety.

  • GENDER EQUALITY (SDG 5)

We celebrate the rich tapestry of our team, recognizing and valuing individual differences spanning ethnicities, cultures, religions, ages, disabilities, races, sexual identities, worldviews, and genders.

Our mission is unequivocal:

- Foster an environment that celebrates every employee's contribution, regardless of differences.

- Cultivate a workplace where respect and dignity are foundational, and no form of harassment is tolerated.

- Ensure equal opportunities for training, development, and advancement.

- Regularly review employment practices for fairness and equality.

- Take proactive measures to address breaches of our Diversity Policy.

Archroma stands firm against discrimination, ensuring that no one is subjected to offensive behavior based on their characteristics. Our Compliance Committee oversees assessment and resolution of discrimination incidents.

During our financial year (FY) 2022, our team comprised 2,806 employees, with female leaders and women constituting 2% of our workforce—an increase of 1% from the previous period. We foster balanced gender representation at all organizational levels.

Our governance body embodies this commitment with a 40% representation of women. Our dedication to gender parity is evident as we aim to increase female representation in management by 1% for FY2023.

  • RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION (SDG 12)

Our approach involves working closely with customers to create more sustainable solutions that minimize water and energy consumption while simultaneously improving the quality of effluents and emissions. This innovative approach not only enhances overall efficiency but also diminishes reliance on commodity chemicals.

Amid the ongoing energy crisis, systems such as CONSCIOUSLY DEEP and DEEP TRAIL have been instrumental in curbing energy consumption for sustainable practices.

The positive effects of our systems are clearly visible as they contribute to water conservation and reduction in CO2 emissions, all of which underlines Archroma's steadfast dedication to sustainable practices.

  • CLIMATE ACTION (SDG 13)

We continuously strive for innovative solutions by transitioning to renewable resources, refining our production processes, and optimizing our product portfolio to achieve substantial emissions reduction.

Our efforts have resulted in a significant reduction of 9% in Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions in FY2022 compared to FY2021. Impressively, this reduction extends to 24% when compared to FY2018.

Our commitment to achieving net zero emissions, which began in 2018, has been further strengthened by our commitment to the Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi). Archroma's comprehensive approach to managing, reducing, and collaborating on emissions is a clear testament to our dedication to meaningful climate action.

Archroma's unwavering commitment to the SDGs is deeply integrated into every aspect of our operations. By prioritizing safety, diversity, responsible consumption, and climate action, we are actively working towards fostering positive change, transforming challenges into opportunities, and paving the way for a sustainable future for all.
