Stronger, cleaner and more sustainable packaging materials
Pulp additives – right from the start of paper production – are essential in enhancing the quality, performance, and sustainability of paper and board packaging. They improve fiber bonding, retention, strength, and processing efficiency – ensuring cost-effective production and better end-product functionality.
Enhance ink adhesion for sharper, high-quality graphics.
Ensure packaging retains durability in humid or wet conditions (critical for food and beverage applications).
Speed up water removal, leading to higher machine efficiency and energy savings.
Prevent buildup of resins, adhesives, and contaminants, reducing machine downtime.
Minimize biofilm and microbial deposits in water circuits.
Enhance whiteness and brightness for high-end printing and packaging.
Enable higher recycled fiber content, reducing reliance on virgin pulp.
Reduce water, chemical, and energy usage, supporting eco-friendly production.
Cartafen® is a fiber-activation additive, designed to enhance fiber charge, retention, and strength performance in recycled pulp systems. This solution works by partially replenishing the anionic charge on fiber surfaces, improving the efficiency of cationic retention and strength additives. This optimization leads to stronger fiber bonding, better yield, and enhanced water removal – resulting in improved machine runnability and productivity.
Cartafen® is particularly effective in high-conductivity, closed-loop systems, allowing paper mills to maximize recycled fiber performance while optimizing chemical use and enhancing sustainability.
Cartafen® meets BfR and FDA food contact standards, aligning with Nordic Swan and EU-Flower eco-labels.
Cartaspers® is a deposit control additive, designed to prevent and disperse pitch, stickies, and other hydrophobic contaminants in pulp systems. This solution stabilizes resinous deposits which reduces build-up on machine surfaces and improves runnability and efficiency.
Particularly effective in recycled fiber processes, Cartaspers® supports cleaner production, minimizes downtime, and reduces defects such as spots and holes. By keeping systems cleaner, it enhances chemical efficiency and improves product quality, making it ideal for mills processing secondary fibers and high-resin content pulps.
Antimussol® is an antifoam emulsion developed for pulp mills. It is primarily used to control foam formation and enhance drainage efficiency during different stages of the papermaking process.
This solution is particularly effective in pulp washing and screening, as well as bleaching and sewage treatment. When applied in the paper machine process, it helps deaerate and regulate foam, improving production efficiency.
