Archroma, a global leader in specialty chemicals focused on sustainable solutions, has developed an innovative formaldehyde and PFAS-free durable hydrophobic acrylic copolymer that helps brands and mills produce fabrics that are resistant to weather and hydrolysis for all substrate types, without compromising on quality or introducing harmful chemicals.
APPRETAN® FFX1540 liq represents the next generation of acrylic copolymers, offering unparalleled hydrophobicity for bonded nonwovens and coated technical fabrics. With low water absorption and exceptional water tightness, it ensures reliability in both static and dynamic conditions. Moreover, its unique crosslinking system provides a "low cure profile," reducing the carbon footprint without compromising performance, making it ideal for finishing glass fiber materials.
Technical nonwovens bonded with APPRETAN® FFX1540 liq exhibit high mechanical properties and excellent wet strength, further enhanced by the addition of formaldehyde-free crosslinkers such as ARKOPHOB® NTR-40 liq or ARKOPHOB® DAN New liq.
Crucially, APPRETAN® FFX1540 liq is free from formaldehyde and PFAS. It complies with major global industry compliance schemes including Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), bluesign® and ZDHC MRSL v3.1, along with BfR XXXVI, ensuring its compliance and suitability for food contact applications.
