The SDC (Society of Dyers and Colourists), one of the world’s leading industry organizations dedicated to the science and future of color, will announce the winner of its Innovation Award 2014 on May 16, 2014. Archroma is shortlisted in the large-scale organisations category among three nominees from a large number of entries received from 17 countries globally.

The award aims at distinguishing: “a novel product, process or service which opens up new opportunities for color, challenges existing conventions, is environmentally conscious, demonstrates the application of pioneering color science or technology, and shows clear user benefits.”

Archroma’s ADVANCED DENIM ticks all the boxes.

ADVANCED DENIM combines the advantages of unprecedented fashion flexibility with more sustainable, eco-efficient manufacture to create a win-win situation for producers and consumers alike. The Diresul® Indicolor dyes are designed to enhance denim’s look and feel, add a vast range of new shades and wash-down effects, and create smart finishes.

In total, when employing the ADVANCED DENIM processes, water consumption can be reduced by as much as 92%, while 63% of the usual cotton waste is avoided and around 30% can be saved in energy costs too compared to a traditional denim process.

“ADVANCED DENIM is Archroma’s ready-to-use solution towards zero discharge,” comments Miguel Sanchez, Global Head of Product Line Special Dyes at Archroma. “Retailers, brands and many accredited denim mills around the world are showing a huge interest for what is truly the first innovation in denim production in more than 150 years! We are quite proud for bringing to the market what we believe is a game-changing contribution to a more sustainable denim industry.”

The judging panel comprises senior representatives from different sectors of the global coloration industry: Professor Bob Christie, Dr David Hinks, Dr John Provost, Professor Roger Wardman, and the chair of the panel, Dr Ian Holme.

The announcement of the winners will take place at the SDC Day of Celebration in York, UK, on May 16, 2014.
