Dense and chalky surfaces such as concrete, wood, gypsum and fiber cement board are difficult to coat and paint without the use of a primer. Conventional water-based emulsions have too large particles which are unable to penetrate sufficiently into dense and chalky surfaces and therefore suffer from adhesion problems. Solvent based primers can partly fix this issue, however they have a strong irritating smell, are known to be hazardous to health and the environment.
Due to the very fine nano particle size of Mowilith® LDM 2801 the emulsion is able to penetrate deep into substrates where conventional water-based emulsions would not be able to penetrate. This will help customers to solve adhesion problems and consequent complaints from their end customers without the need to use solvent-based primers. The penetrating power of Mowilith® LDM 2801 can also be used in an impregnating wood stain formulation which, together with wood preserving additives, can protect the wood from the inside while preserving the natural wood appearance.
