Spin finishes for lubrication, static control and enhanced surface modification

Archroma’s AFILAN® range of spin finishes is specially formulated to optimize textile processing. It includes products for high lubricity, boundary lubrication and static protection, as well as permanent surface modification. These products are non-toxic and partially based on renewable materials and highly biodegradable.

Manufactured to ensure excellent quality and consistency, our spin finish products provide optimal distribution on various yarn surfaces. This is vital since only a very small amount of product (equivalent to less than 1% of the weight of the fiber or filament to be treated) is generally applied. The AFILAN® range also provides excellent thermal stability and is non-yellowing and anti-corrosive.

Different types of synthetic fibers require tailored spin finish blends to ensure efficient processing. The AFILAN® finishes provide high lubricity for smoother fiber movement, boundary lubrication to prevent wear under high pressure, and effective static protection to reduce electrostatic buildup. They also offer permanent surface modifications to enhance fiber properties and help ensure consistent performance throughout the spinning and weaving process.

Every product in the AFILAN® range is partially based on renewable materials and highly biodegradable. For example, approximately 34% of the active material in AFILAN® V5066 is from a renewable source*, with overall biodegradability of more than 80%# (applied on staple fibers). AFILAN® FOX liq. contains about 33% renewable material*, with biodegradability over 80%# (applied on polypropylene bulked continuous filament (PP-BCF) yarn for carpet production).
