APPRETAN®

Water-based binding for soft and flexible fabrics

Our water-based APPRETAN® polymeric binders help improve the performance of non-woven textiles and impart softness and flexibility. They support compliance with strict voluntary standards and restricted substances lists and also provide options for brands and mills looking to move away from reliance on fossil-fuel-based raw materials.

The APPRETAN® binders can be applied by impregnation or through paste or foam coating—and in combination with other crosslinkers.

In the past, polymeric coating binders could only be made from fossil fuel resources, like petroleum and natural gas. The APPRETAN® NTR range is based on renewable raw materials—with up to 40% bio-based active content and high compostability. It provides formulations that impart a soft handfeel to textiles such as nonwoven cleaning cloths, as well as products for food-related applications subject to boiling water, like tea bags and coffee filers.

APPRETAN® products are bluesign® approved, GOTS approved additive, and are published on the ZDHC Gateway with Conformance Level 3. Applies to selected products in the APPRETAN® range. For further information please refer to The Safe Edge portal.
