Low-foaming mercerizing wetting agents
Our MERCEROL® mercerizing agents are alkali-stable additives designed to dramatically improve mercerization. They provide excellent wetting action with minimal foaming, ensuring efficient and uniform processing. MERCEROL® are applied to cotton and other cellulosic fibers to enhance their physical and aesthetic properties—supporting the production of high-quality fabrics and specialty yarns.
Our MERCEROL® wetting agents dramatically improve the mercerizing effect. They help impart high luster and color vibrancy, improved softness and texture, and resistance to wear and tear. They are used to create high-value apparel, home textiles, and specialty yarns for knitting, crocheting and embroidery.
Mercerization involves treating fabrics or fibers with sodium hydroxide (NaOH), which is known as lye. MERCEROL® agents are chemically stable, low-foaming and designed to be compatible with lye-recovery systems, which reclaim lye and recycle it for reuse in the mercerization process. This helps mills minimize their environmental footprint, reducing the effluent load and saving water and energy, while promoting cost efficiency.
MERCEROL® is compliant with ZDHC and suitable for producing bluesign® APPROVED and GOTS-certified products—providing the products are used as recommended.
